Sponsor an Animal

The animals at the Ranch, whether in the nature center, at Betsy’s Farm, or in the herd, are perinnial favorites of our guests. Now you, or the animal lover in your life, can help care for them while getting to know a favorite even better! When you sponsor an animal, your monthly or yearly sponsorship donation will help cover the cost of food, habitat maintenance, daily care, and annual veterinary care. You, or your gift recipient, will recieve a personalised digital certificate in recognition of the sponsorship, a photo of your sponsored animal, and a fact sheet about the animal, as well as regular updates.

Sponsorships at the Animal Fanatic level will additionally ensure that we are able to cover the costs of unexpected emergency veterinary care, should an accident or illness occur, and this level of sponsorship gives you or your recipient the opportunity to schedule a 30-minute video chat with the animal and their care-giver.

You can view the animals available for sponsorship below, and when you’re ready, visit our donation page to make your sponsorship donation. Please note that animals may have more than one sponsor. All animals remain in the care of Pathfinder Ranch and no ownership rights are conferred. All adoption contributions are tax-deductible, as allowed by law.

Gwar

Gwar is the rockstar of our Nature Center, responsible for winning over countless visitors to give reptiles a chance. Afterall, he really only wants to cuddle! At about 22 years old, Gwar will likely live at least 10 more years, but is likely done growing. This gives him plenty of time to continue perfecting his laid-back approach to life and introduce another generation of campers and students to reptiles.

Sir Artemous Tortoise

Meet Sir Artemous, aka Art, the cool-as-a-cucumber desert tortoise. Art joined the Pathfinder Ranch Nature Center in 2018 at the very young tortoise age of 7 years old, when he quickly became a favorite of Naturalists and visitors alike for his gentle personality and love of salad greens. Art was found outside of his normal habitat, most likely after being lost or “released” by his pet owners. He eventually made his way to Pathfinder Ranch as a foster tortoise. Desert tortoises live so long that most rescue programs usually foster instead of adopt; this is due to the difficulties of finding a home that can keep a tortoise for their full 80+ year lifespan. We plan to provide Art with the kind of quality foster home he needs throughout his lifetime.

Charlie Brown & Linus

Say hello to alpaca buddies Charlie Brown and Linus! These playful buds joined Pathfinder Ranch in 2017 as a donation from a local alpaca farm. As social herd animals, Charlie Brown and Linus thrive co-habitating with our goats (one of whom we’re pretty sure the alpacas think is a third, much smaller alpaca). Charlie Brown and Linus love meal times and, in the summer, showers from the hose, and they like to show demonstrate their excitement with bounding frolics and lots weird snorts and squeals. They dislike their annual haircuts, at least until they’re done, and that’s about the end of their list of things they dislike. Truly two of the most cheerful, easy to please animals at the Ranch!

Dakota

Dakota was bred locally and moved to Pathfinder Ranch in 2008 as a yearling. Over his years at the Ranch, Dakota has grown into a reliable and highly intelligent goof-ball, capable of being a perfect angel one day, and a mischievous trickster the next.

Brix

Oh, sleepy Brix. There’s not a horse in the herd more down for a midday nap than her! Brix retired to the Ranch herd in 2014 from Kentucky. She is now 20 years young, and a simple, laid-back, and mild mannered friend to every human she meets. (Though she gives bonus points to those who bring her treats.)

Barkley

Barkley is our gentle giant who retired to the Ranch in 2015 following a long career as a stadium jumper and dressage athlete. With the wisdom of 23 years in his soulful eyes and standing at 17.5 hands, Barkley can appear intimidating, but is actually the best introductory horse for some of our shyest riders.
